Turns out, marketing is hard.
First thing you might notice is that the comments here has changed. Sooooo many people have let me know that Blogger’s default comments are just br0k3N, sometimes working, sometimes not, so I’ve shuffled it across to using Google+ comments instead. We’ll see if that makes it easier or harder. I swear, I’m -><- this close to moving to another blogging platform. If your blogging platform is hindering your fans, there's something deeply wrong; I'm a firm believer in ensuring it's actually easy, not hard, for people to talk to you. Which brings me to another point – I rather think I need to create a proper website for my stuff. Since I’m now a published author – please, no applause – it’d be nice if there was a more professional presence for me out there. I’m going to look into that over the next little while and see what I can come up with. Design-wise, I reckon I’m enough of a wizard, so it’s just the hosting bit that’s important.
The last few days have been a whirlwind of marketing. I’ve been stalking Facebook like an angsty teen, commenting and promoting all over the place whenever someone mentions Night’s Favour. It’s fun! But I also suck at it – this marketing angle is hard. I don’t want to come across all needy and desperate, but I also want people to know the little things – like it’s free until Friday. It’s a fine line.
Today was spent tarting up my SpecFic profile, so my fellow author dudes know about it and me and how that all works. I like those SpecFic guys, they are doing God’s work, and it’s a good community of like-minded people. It’d be great if they were in a position to get a free copy of the book before it stops being free, because if you can’t share with your community, then what’s the point, right?
